Mid-century modern home renovation

We purchased our mid-century modern ranch house in December 2005 and have been remodeling and re-storing ever since. The house was custom-built in 1955 for a family that still lives in town (yes, we found the original owners...), and the plan seems to be based on a popular floor plan from the era called the ‘Operation Trade Secrets’ home. Underneath all the weird paint, mirrored walls and bland carpet we are finding a treasure trove of original redwood siding and trim, limestone fireplace, and cork tile floor. Other things, like the re-muddled country kitchen and sprayed canary yellow bathroom are not salvageable and are getting a 21st century modernist makeover.
