One day this spring while working in our yard, we met a man who was taking a walk down the block-- he was the boy who grew up in the house next door to ours, and who’s parents had built that house in the late 1940’s. He was generous enough to share some old photos with us, of his house, and of our neighborhood when it was still a treeless in-the-middle-of nowhere brand new suburb. In the photos of this handsome Cape-Cod house, our mid-century modern is the stand-out to the left-- and in some photos, the empty space to the left of the house.
